Let me tell you something about Stella, my new bird. She dislikes me and wants to taunt   me with her chirpiness. I am the only one in the family who has not heard this bird chirp. Well, kind of. I was doing the dishes last night and the water makes it kind of loud to hear any background noises. Well I sort of heard a chirp or two come from the cage. I turned  off the water and ……nothing. Complete silence. So I turned the water on again and once again I hear…chirp chirp chirp.  So I turned the water off. Nothing. After a third time I got it. This bird is trying to drive me mad. Well take a number, Stella.

Donna Martin Graduates

I saw the funniest T shirt on the web the other day. It said “Donna Martin graduates” It cracked me up. And if it does the same to you then you totally get it and you can be my friend.

If you don’t get it, watch

Two years ago Abbe bought me a Von Dutch hat for my birthday and Jeff took it as his own. This was since known as VonDutchgate in Abbe’s eyes. When she gave me the bird she realized that Alyssa really wanted to take it over so she suggested I name the bird, Von Dutch. We laughed about it but in all reality………

I have been sweet talking this bird for three days now. “Hello Stella!” “Stellllllla” “Stelly Stella bird”(all this being said in the highest octave available) Nothing, nothing from the bird but a feather ruffle and a tail nod. Jeff comes home yesterday and says “Hi bird” in his manly voice and the stinkin bird chirps at him. This morning I woke up to find that Jeff replaced the light baby blanket I put over Stella's cage with a thicker Pooh one.

He is so bird whipped.

My birthday

So, I turned into a 36 year old woman yesterday. I am in my late thirties. My husband is still in his mid thirties. I am the older woman.

I had a very nice birthday. We went to Abbe’s of course and just chilled. Her family bought me a bird. That’s right, A living animal. A parakeet I have named Stella. STELLLLLLA! She is tiny and meek just like the original Stella in Streetcar named Desire, one of my favorite plays. Abbe’s daughter, Allie is animal nutty. No, I mean it. She is NUT-TEE. They have a virtual Noah’s Ark in their house. She had Stella by their parakeet, Hollywood. Allie was convinced that they were in love and got a little weepy when I took my bird home. Allie is also the young lady that got me my Beta fish, Harry Potter for Christmas. She gives the gift of animal.

Speaking of my fish, they were just about the last things to bring over from the old house. We had gone over everyday to feed them but making the major trip to transport them was a problem. But now they are all home and we are a family! So the old house is being thoroughly cleaned out today. A team of cleaners is coming to do the job. I was a little sad yesterday looking at it. I loved that house. And now my new house is a mountain of boxes waiting to be unpacked.  I did the kitchen this weekend but there are still many, many more to do. 12 more days until Texas!!!

Help! shout out for a tune

Can anybody send me the song "Mad World" By Michael Andrews? It was on the Donnie Darko soundtrack and iTunes will only let you purchase the entire soundtrack instead of the one song. I don't even know if this can be done. But please email me at if you can. Thank you!!!

Umm yeah

Here is a video of Emma that maybe Grandma's shouldn't watch.

For our wedding anniversary and my birthday, My mom bought us all new bed sets. Here are the pictures along with the new haircuts on the girls.

Last night we celebrated my parents 42nd wedding anniversary. Where else but Olive Garden? Where happy Italians go to dine and eat like they did in the old country. I had the yummiest shrimp and crab ravioli evah! It was scrumptious. 42 years with the same person is a really, really long time.

Last night was an interesting night. My Basset Hound, Spooky had a seizure. He had something before in February. It was as if he could not move his legs and he was pulling himself by his belly. He was shaking a mile a minute and crying a little as if he were in pain. The whole incident lasted about three minutes and was terrifying for Alyssa. Emma really couldn’t care less. I mean, I am sure she likes the dog but his incident cut drastically into her Ed Edd, and Eddy show  Anyway, that happened again last night and it lasted about three to four minutes.  He seemed fine but then Jeff came home, Spooky had an all out seizure. He was like a fish out of water, flipping and flapping all over and he could not calm down. That was really scary. After I calmed down the hysterical 8 year old, Jeff calmed down the Basset and he was fine again. I put him in my car and drove him down the street to his vet. He was a little disoriented but otherwise OK. Of course he was fine with the vet. But she said that they needed to run some tests to see if he has epilepsy and pinched spinal nerve or something else. $150. Not today thank you. Don’t get me wrong, I love my dog but I am getting ready to board them which is going to cost us $400. He was fine all night but if he has another episode I will get the tests done.

Happy anniversary!!

Jeff and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary on Saturday. We didn’t really do much but go to dinner, but my honey brought me breakfast in bed and Emma wished me a happy birthday. Alyssa called her a dork and the day went off without a hitch.

11 years in a row!!!!!!!!! Geesh. All I can say is I love that man 1000X more then when I said “I do.”

A little family in a big house

We spent our first night in the new house last night. It has not sunk in that this is our house yet. I still feel as though my parents are out of town and we are staying over. That is why it was so important for me to have everything completely different from how they had it. Their living room is now our den where we keep our TV. They had it as a sitting room. We have no TV in their old den at all and we have made it a music/computer/fireplace sitting area. The dogs were over for the first time too. Spooky immediately went upstairs to sniff out any random tidbits to lick. Otis however and his 9 year old 125 lb self tried to go up the stairs but tripped and slid down. The girls screamed hysterically before they realized that he was only on the fourth step. He was more impressed with the backyard anyway. He laid in the weed - made grass and sniffed the flowers.

Other then waking up extremely thirsty it was a great night. The girls slept in their new bedrooms and woke up very silly and happy.  Well, they were happy until I asked Alyssa to brush her hair and Emma couldn’t button her pants. Then it was the normal morning ugliness we have all grown to love and adore. There is still a huge amount of work to do at the old hose and many things to purchase for the old.  You can check out some of them on my Amazon wish list on my side bar --->>>. We are all very tired. We need everything cleaned out and repaired by March 27th.  That is what I will be doing this weekend.  And the next, and sigh… the next.

I am not going to lie to you Boo; this has been a hard three months. And by the way, when you make a deal with the devil, he doesn’t just take your soul when you die and leaves. He constantly reminds you throughout your remaining days that he has it and will not leave you alone. Think twice about what you really want.

Things I learned this weekend

1. 5 year olds really want to help you when you paint. They will not give up asking.

2. When you tell a five year old to paint up and down, that is a hard concept for them to get.

3. When you try to clean off paint from a carpet it spreads.

4. The pink you choose that looks like Barbie pink in the can is really pepto bismol pink on the walls.

5. Pepto bismol walls does not coat, soothe, or relieve the headache you get from staring at the color for three hours

6. Painting is only fun for the first twenty minutes.

7. Creamy horseradish at the Regent buffet is very hot.

8. I can hit a max on how many crab legs I can eat.

9. The girls had a lot of happy meals toys in their bedroom.

10. It doesn't make me feel guilty in the least to toss them out.

11. Hair is a great movie to watch when you are cleaning a room because it has one of the best soundtracks in the world in it.

The worst part about working in the news

It is the fact that I really have to know and listen about the creeps in this world that deserve nothing but evil. This story has been top news for two months now. It has been killing me. I haven't built up that thick skin yet.
